Students take into account aesthetics, economic, social and environmental issues and industrial practices and
use this knowledge to develop solutions to design problems. Throughout this work students are encouraged to
reflect on and evaluate present and past design and technology and its effectiveness.
Through design and technology, all students can become innovators, and all can enjoy and achieve.
The DT curriculum is designed to prepare students thoroughly for their KS4 experience at the Academy. A range of exciting projects provide students with the opportunities to work individually and collaboratively, encouraging them to develop their enquiry, design, and team building skills. The design process allows students to: explore ideas and the design context, generate ideas, develop & model ideas, plan, make and evaluate.
